Just two hours from London, the Isle of Wight is a real jewel – a multifaceted diamond of locations for serious filmmakers (and some not-so-serious).
The Island’s diverse mix of rural, coastal, villages, industrial spaces and towns are open for shoots, and within easy reach of each other. Many successfully double as less accessible overseas locations and the Island enjoys more sunshine hours than any other county in England.
Sub-tropical microclimates – they all say that! Prehistoric landscapes – Dinosaurs were always good at finding their marks. Vineyards, modernist beachside homes, derelict waterfronts, suburban estates. You name it, in just 150 square miles you can find almost anything you can imagine and be inspired by many things you simply couldn’t.
Enter Filmwight with their team and fixers who deep dive into the detail; helping with travel arrangements, finding the right locations, connecting you with the facilities and the talent you need, and at the same time, making sure your crew enjoy their time on this remarkable piece of geography just off the South coast of England.
Filmwight is operated with the endorsement of Isle of Wight Council, and with assistance from Arts Council England, Solent LEP, and our Island businesses. The team is experienced, pragmatic and dedicated to making the Island a place where film,TV and photographic projects take place easily, efficiently, and effectively.
Created byVenture South, the Isle of Wight Cultural Investment Company, we are part of the Island’s growing creative sector, connected to mainland organisations and part of a strategic plan to promote the Island as a true environment in which to create.
Filmed on the Island, produced by Rowena Amos from Ventnor and supported by Filmwight - ironically acclaimed here by Devon & Cornwall!
This is an award winning short starring Toyah with Music by her husband Robert Fripp.
